ATMEGA16U2 Mega R3 Improved Version CH340G Board compatible with Arduino Mega
This is the new MEGA2560 R3. In addition to all the features of the previous board, the MEGA now uses an ATMega16U2 instead of the ATMega8U2 chip. This allows for faster transfer rates and more memory. No drivers are needed for Linux or Mac (inf file for Windows is required and included in the Arduino IDE), and it provides the ability to set the device up as a keyboard, mouse, joystick, etc.
The MEGA2560 R3 also adds SDA and SCL pins next to the AREF. In addition, two new pins are placed near the RESET pin. One of them is the IOREF, which allows the shields to adapt to the voltage provided by the board. The other is not connected and is reserved for future purposes. The MEGA2560 R3 works with all existing shields but can be adapted to new shields that use these additional pins.
Revision 3 of the board has the following new features:
• Pinout: Added SDA and SCL pins located near the AREF pin, and two other new pins placed near the RESET pin, the IOREF, which allows the shields to adapt to the voltage provided by the board. In the future, shields will be compatible both with the board using the AVR, which operates at 5V, and with the Arduino, as they operate at 3.3V. The second is an unconnected pin reserved for future purposes.
• Stronger RESET circuit.
• Atmega 16U2 replaces the 8U2.
